Square Enix Unveils The Age of Budding in The Adventures of Elliot

Square Enix has dropped some exciting new insights regarding The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, specifically unveiling the Age of Budding, along with fresh characters and gameplay mechanics. This Age of Budding marks the initial chapter in the game’s storyline, set against the backdrop of Philabieldia's primitive civilization. Here, humanity grapples with survival amidst fierce beast tribes, armed only with rudimentary, handmade weapons.

The plot thickens with the introduction of the Myū, a unique tribe that can communicate in human language and wield magic. Their presence ignites significant tension, as humans grapple with the implications of their magical abilities.

Three new characters join the fray: Kai, Lyudmila, and Hirk. Players will encounter Shrines of the Mystic throughout their journey, where Faie can acquire new magical skills that assist in combat and puzzle challenges. Among these abilities are Ignite, which triggers premature explosions of bombs, Vacuum, designed to pull in enemies and objects, and Copy, which allows Faie to transform into a duplicate of Elliot, mimicking his actions and activating switches.

Additionally, players can fuse Elliot’s offensive moves with Faie’s magical skills and magicite modifiers to unleash powerful synergies. For instance, enhanced bombs can be detonated manually with Ignite, while duplicated boomerangs can unleash multiple projectiles simultaneously.

Why it matters

Fans of the game can look forward to its launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on June 18, 2026. A free demo is currently available across all platforms, complete with a data transfer feature to save your progress.
